Club Activities are great way to get involved and make new friends. EWC holds a wide variety of activities to try to suit many tastes. We are excited to see the Gourmet Group come to fruition this upcoming Fall as well a new group: Gardening. New activities are always welcome. If you have an idea of a new activity, please contact Mai Moore. During the summer months, most activities are on hold, but they come very much alive in the Fall. We are always looking for Activity leaders. If interested, please contact Mai Moore as well.
Hope the winter is treating you well! If you’re needing some social activities – try something new! Or re-join a group you haven’t in a while! All are welcome to all activities! For more information – please contact Mai Moore.
PLEASE NOTE: Some of the activities have modest fees in addition to the EWC dues. Prospective EWC members are welcome to be a guest at an activity. However, ongoing participation and activity hosting are for EWC members only.

We read books chosen by our hosts, everything from classics and modern fiction to non-fiction and memoirs. We meet on the 4th Thursday of every month at 7:30 pm and members bring an appetizer, desert, wine or beverage of choice to share. If you’re brand new, send an email to Barbara to get on our mailing list of monthly titles.
Next meeting:

The Daytime Book Club meets every six weeks, normally at 10 a.m. Wednesdays. We usually meet at members' homes but occasionally meet at a restaurant or other place that supports the book club discussion. New members are always welcome.
Next Meeting:
The morning book club will meet on Wed. Feb. 22nd at 10:00 am at the home of Jennifer Gramlich, 1470 Shaker Blvd., SH. The book we are reading is
Rules of Civility, by Amor Towles. Please let Jennifer know if you are coming by the preceding Monday.
Lunch Anyone?
Lunch Anyone? typically meets the fourth Tuesday of the month. It is a casual get together with new and old friends. These dates could possibly change, so be sure to check the newsletter and online calendar each month. We hope you will plan your calendar so you can join us. If you are not already on our email list and are interested in being notified of our plans, please contact Rhonda.
Join us this month for lunch at Club Isabella Tuesday, February 28th at 12:30 pm. The restaurant is located on the UH side of Little Italy, 2174 Cornell Rd. RSVP to Rhonda. See you there!
Wine Tasting Group
The group is casual, meeting as much for socializing as for wine tasting.
Each member/couple hosts the group once a year. The hosts select the wines for tasting and provide information as to where they were purchased and their cost. Members split the cost of the wines tasted while bringing food to share. If interested, contact LeeAnne.
The Wine Tasting Group will be dining out on Saturday evening, February 4. For current Wine Club members, please look for an upcoming email with details. If you haven't joined us before, or if you are new to the EWC, and are interested in our group, please contact LeeAnne for details.
Bon Appetit (Gourmet Group)
Bon Appétit is a group that explores ways to enhance our enjoyment of food, and that of our family and friends. The way we will do this is through unique dining experiences, educational events, food, field trips, cooking activities, recipe sharing and other palate pleasers.
Please watch our for an e-mail from EWCgourmet@yahoo.com for the next upcoming event.
Garden Club
The Eastside Welcome Club is renewing its long-standing relationship with The Little Gardens' Club of Shaker Heights. It is open to anyone, novice through expert.
Next meeting:
Garden Club is meeting on Friday, February 17th at noon at the Mayfield Library. The speaker will present a program on Native Perennials.
The Activity Group (NEW!)
Contact Carol Farrell
Please join this exciting new activity!
Events be held on the third Saturday of each month. The February event will be February 18 starting at 7PM.
Your input is welcome. Although we are in the early stages of planning, activities currently under consideration for the January and ongoing events include: Curling, Karaoke, Bowling, Paddle Tennis, Group Dance Class, Paintball and anything else you suggest (don’t let being an adult impede your pursuit of fun.)
If you like to get out and DO things this is a good group for you. Be adventurous, RSVP and put the date on your calendar without first knowing exactly what we will be doing (it certainly won't be dangerous or require skills you don't possess.) If you told your husband that the event was country dance lessons he might say, "Let's just go to a movie."
You may never play WhirlyBall (a team game involving bumper cars, jailai-like baskets and a ball) or try Curling if you discuss it too much in advance. However, if you just plan on doing whatever is scheduled you might look at each other on the drive home and say, "I'm glad we went... but let's not join a league!)
The Activity Group won't be the same without you ... (In fact, it may not even continue to exist without you) .. If you’re interested in joining this group and finding out what the next activity will be, please e-mail Carol Farrell to sign up!

Have an Idea for a New Activity? Looking for a yoga group? Needlework? Photography? Bridge? Another idea? If you would like to start a new club, contact Mai Moore or information to give us your ideas. Activities must be open to all Club members. Additional fees for activities are acceptable. An effort should be made to schedule the activity at a time that does not conflict with another club activity. Approval of the activity is dependent upon the Board’s review. Prospective EWC members are welcome to be a guest at an activity. However, ongoing participation and activity hosting is limited to EWC members.
